Four decades of wetland protection. The Council of Ministers has approved five new wetlands to join the Ramsar Convention, the most important international treaty on the conservation of these natural environments, signed in 1971.
These spaces are "Gaps in Mulberry" in Mazarr3n (Murcia), "those of Campotjar" between the municipalities in Molina de Segura and Lonqu-, also in the Murcia region, "Ria de Villaviciosa" in Asturias, "the Tremendales de Orihuela", wow power leveling, in Teruel, and "the Salt of Sstago-Bujaraloz" south of Los Monegros, Zaragoza. Together these areas account for almost 11,400 hectares, which puts the country in a good position in the list.

On the occasion of World Wetlands Day, on Wednesday, there will be events related to the theme throughout the Spanish geography. An example of this are the families and school activities organized by the Cehum for that day. Also during that week will premiere a documentary about the Spanish wetlands that will air on TVE.
In turn, the Ramsar Cehum and promote the publication of a book and a documentary about to be published later this year.
The 'Get wet in wetlands' is an awareness campaign conducted by the Cehum, which aims to run a series of voluntary actions in different Spanish wetlands throughout 2011. To this end, five nonprofit organizations in Spain are preparing actions to enhance awareness of the Spanish.
