File closed: The Munich public prosecutor is to cease its controversial investigation into kickbacks and rebates on advertising bookings in the coming days, reports the trade journal “w & v”. Thus, the media agencies in Germany are first recognized as a separate economic stage – and the media companies can build their rebates more creative than in the past two years. The investigation was triggered by a 2007, the Bundeskartellamt proceedings against Germany and SevenOne IP, the marketer of RTL Group and ProSieben.Sat.1. At that time the competition watchdog had asked for years practiced the system of rebates for media agencies to their entire booking volume in question. As a result, investigations against some 50 media and agency executives were added, including IP-chief Martin Krapf and SevenOne boss Peter Christmann and Burda manager Andreas Schilling, and Jörg-Helge Volkenand and El Cartel boss Jan Kühn. Already in the summer, the prosecutor had offered the accused to the practice against payment of a fine. But who were still fighting for her acquittal.
